According to Windows Central, Activision Blizzard's CEO, Bobby Kotick, held an internal meeting with company employees on Tuesday to discuss the current state of the company ahead of its anticipated acquisition by Microsoft.

During the meeting, as reported by sources, Bobby Kotick likely began discussing how Microsoft's expertise in technological research could lead to improvements in the game development process at Activision.

"A significant part of what I've observed at Microsoft is their focus on research," Kotick is quoted as saying. "They delve into areas that are truly impressive. Having access to their expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and innovative graphics approaches, I see boundless potential in what we do."

Kotick also emphasized that Activision is uniquely positioned as a company due to its possession of the best franchises in the world of video games. He then listed early Activision games that had a profound impact on the industry, such as Pitfall, River Raid, and Kaboom.

In a hint possibly suggesting the return of the successful music series, Guitar Hero, he added, "The resurgence of Guitar Hero and other projects would be inconceivable without access to various resources. So, you know, the limitless possibilities for the future are incredibly exciting."

Earlier this year, Kotick had already expressed that a new Guitar Hero game could be developed using artificial intelligence technology.

In a company-wide meeting in May, Kotick mentioned, "I've always had a vision for what a new Guitar Hero product could be, but without the use of artificial intelligence and processors embedded in phones, computers, or game consoles that provide the necessary processing speed for enabling AI, we've never been in a position where AI would have practical reality and applicability for games until now."

In January 2022, Kotick also stated that if the Microsoft acquisition is successfully completed, he would like to see the return of "retired" series, citing Guitar Hero and Skylanders as two examples.
