Yesterday there was a presentation from AMD, where GPU manufacturers spoke. Within its framework, the developers reported on the advantages of the RNDA 2 architecture, on which the Radeon RX6000 video cards are made, that make this product extremely attractive for the average video game lover.

One of the main features of RNDA 2 is the handling of ray tracing using separate elements. A similar system is used on NVIDIA video cards, which use the Turing and Ampere architectures. Earlier there were rumors about the same consumption of video card resources both for graphics processing and for calculating rays. In fact, it turned out that the GPU will have a ray tracing accelerator in each of the compute units.

The second feature of video cards based on the RNDA 2 architecture is the very high bandwidth of the Infinity Cache buffer with a volume of 128 MB. For comparison, earlier video cards from AMD had a speed of 512GB/s, and now it is 1,664 GB/s (when using 16 GB GDDR6). In addition, the power consumption of the graphics card has also been reduced.

The line of new video cards from AMD with RNDA 2 architecture will include only three models: Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT and RX 6800. The oldest model will have a price tag of $ 999, and in terms of performance, according to AMD, it will compete with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090, which costs $ 1,399. The Radeon RX 6900 XT will also support 4K resolution. More modest representatives of the line of cards based on RNDA 2 in the person of RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 will be direct rivals of RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, respectively. By the way, they will go on sale on November 18, but users who want to buy a Radeon RX 6900 XT will have to wait until December 9.
