Tom's Hardware, citing research from Mercury Research, reported that the third quarter of 2020 was particularly successful for AMD. The latter managed to increase the share of processors made on the x86 architecture to 22.4%. The last time such a result was achieved was in 2007.

AMD managed to gain 4.1% market share in the previous quarter. Compared to what happened in the middle of last year, Intel lost more than 6%. With the exception of the server market area, AMD exceeded 20% in all market areas. Despite the fact that AMD's server market share is only 6.6%, one cannot fail to notice the fact that they have growth here too. Over the past year, the company has grown 2.3%.

Recall that AMD recently showed how a new series of their video cards will look like, which is positioned as a direct competitor to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 series. The devices will run on the RDNA 2 architecture. Users will have a choice between three video cards: Radeon RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT and RX 6800. Radeon RX 6900 for $ 999 will please its buyer with 4K resolution and will compete with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. The cost of the latter, by the way, is $ 1,399, so if RX 6900 can produce the same performance, then this is a strong step from the outside AMD. The RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 graphics cards, in turn, compete with the power of the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, respectively. The RX Radeon 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6800 will go on sale on November 18, while the RX 6900 XT will only hit retailers on December 9.
