Recently, the Kotaku portal took a lengthy interview with the head of Microsoft's gaming division Phil Spencer. The Xbox executive answered frequently asked questions and shared his thoughts on the industry. Collected in one material a squeeze of the most interesting.
New generation
- Spencer is confident that Xbox Series S will sell more than Xbox Series X in the long term
- Continuing the theme of the new generation, Phil confirmed that some games will load faster on the "younger" version of the console. All thanks to the lower resolution
- Concluding the nextgen topic, Spencer expressed his belief that maintaining two consoles is necessary, albeit extremely difficult.
Microsoft Studios
- We also talked about Microsoft's recent giant Bethesda deal. You don't need to release Bethesda games outside of the Microsoft ecosystem to recoup your acquisition. However, this does not mean that future projects of Tod Howard's studio will be exclusive to PC or Xbox.
- Studio Rare can do a sequel to Banjo-Kazooie if they want to. This confirms that Microsoft wants to give creators maximum freedom of choice and comfort.
Also during the conversation, Phil Spencer confirmed that he wants to further develop the Microsoft ecosystem and release games for it. This means that you should not expect a large number of ports on other platforms.
