Capcom asserts that it is continuing its 11th consecutive year of growth thanks to successful sales
During the first half of the year, ending on September 30, 2023, the Japanese publisher reported a significant increase in sales and profits, primarily attributed to the strengthening of its core business, "Digital Contents."
The total software sales volume for the first half of the year reached 22.6 million units, exceeding the previous year's figure of 21.3 million. Capcom asserts that the sales of their digital games were particularly successful.
The best-selling game for the company in the first half of the year was Street Fighter 6, which, since its release in June, surpassed 2.47 million units sold.
The remake of Resident Evil 4 sold an additional 1.66 million copies in the first half of the financial year, bringing the total number of copies sold to 5.45 million since its release in March. Capcom's most successful franchise in history has now exceeded 150 million copies sold.
The publisher launched a new intellectual property (IP) called Exoprimal in mid-July for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The game was available on Game Pass for consoles and PC since its release, and by the end of September, it had sold less than 940,000 copies.
Capcom reports a 52.7% growth in net sales for the first six months compared to the previous year, reaching 74,934 million yen. Operating profit increased by 54.5% to 33,835 million yen, and ordinary profit grew by 57.3% to 36,164 million yen. Net profit rose by 56.7% to 25,287 million yen.
The company notes that these results put it on track to achieve its annual profit forecast and confirm an 11-year growth in operating profit.
