AMD FidelityFX Feature Appears On Xbox Series X/S
The next generation Xbox Series X/S game consoles have received official AMD FidelityFX image enhancement tools. Information about this appeared on the official AMD Twitter account.
FidelityFX from AMD is an open source suite of visual technologies that makes it easy for developers to implement high-quality effects and optimization processes.
At the moment there is information about the support of the following technologies:
- Contrast Adaptive Sharpening - sharpening and sharpening images with minimal artifacts.
- Variable Shading - Grayscale processing with a variable shading rate that optimizes rendering for maximum performance without compromising image quality.
- Raytraced Shadow Denoiser - Reduces noise when using ray traced shadows.
According to AMD representatives, FidelityFX is already working in 40 projects available on Microsoft consoles. Developers of other products can now also take full advantage of this set of tools.
The company notes that this is the first step before the implementation of Super Resolution (FSR) technology. Recall that it is an analogue of DLSS from NVIDIA. FSR is also expected to become part of the FidelityFX toolbox in the near future. AMD also confirmed that FSR technology will be cross-platform - it can be used on both PCs and current-generation consoles.
