Blizzard Assures Fans: Exciting Overwatch 2 Updates Coming for Season 11 Despite Xbox Showcase Absence
Activision Blizzard is assuring Overwatch 2 fans not to worry after the game was notably absent from the Xbox Showcase. In recent years, Blizzard has consistently released new trailers showcasing upcoming Overwatch 2 content. Last year, they unveiled Story Missions and gave a first look at Flashpoint. The year before that, they announced the Overwatch 2 release date. However, this year, the absence of Overwatch 2 information left fans puzzled.
As the Xbox Showcase began, fans anticipated a new Overwatch 2 trailer, but it never came. Fortunately, there is a good reason for Blizzard's absence from the showcase, as it aligns with the future plans for Overwatch 2. Blizzard has been focusing on the Overwatch 2 Summer Games, which will run from July 9 through July 16. With Season 11 of Overwatch 2 just weeks away, fans were eager for an explanation, and Blizzard has not left its loyal player base in the dark for long.
One fan took to Twitter to express concern about the lack of updates. Jared Neuss, Executive Producer of Overwatch, responded, “No reason to worry, there’s lots of exciting stuff on the way.” Mike Hardison, Principal Artist of Overwatch, also reassured fans, saying, “We’ve been cooking, but making good stuff takes time." In fact, Overwatch 2 recently launched its 2024 Pride Event, providing plenty of content to keep fans engaged. Neuss added, “We’ve got tons of awesome Season 11 stuff coming up, stay tuned.”
Overwatch 2 Developers Promise Exciting New Features for Season 11
Season 11 is set to launch in late June and will include a new Push map called Runasapi and a rework of the existing map Colosseo. Typically, Overwatch 2 seasons start on a Tuesday, which means Season 11 is expected to begin on June 18, according to the current Battle Pass Timer. However, it is possible that the start date could be pushed to June 25. Blizzard has yet to confirm an official start date for Season 11.
It remains unconfirmed whether the game mode Clash will be fully introduced in Season 11, as it was trialed during Season 10. Blizzard has indicated that Clash will go live “later into the year," suggesting that the introduction of Runasapi and the rework of Colosseo might have kept Blizzard too busy for another major announcement at this time.
