World of Warcraft Player Killed by Grim Batol Boss—Three Minutes After the Dungeon Ends
In a bizarre and unexpected twist, a World of Warcraft player met their demise at the hands of Erudax, the final boss of Grim Batol, three minutes after completing the dungeon. Despite leaving the instance and flying across another zone, this endgame boss somehow managed to strike back from beyond the encounter.
The Incident: A Boss That Refuses to Let Go
World of Warcraft player and Reddit user EndTheEnd shared their misfortune online, revealing a Death Recap showing over 3,800,000 damage taken from Void Surge, an ability used by Erudax. The strange part? The damage didn’t occur during the fight. Instead, it happened three minutes later, while the player was on a flight path in Azj-Kahet.
Void Surge is a deadly DoT (damage-over-time) ability typically managed by healers during Mythic+ encounters. However, it’s designed to stop affecting players once the encounter ends. In this case, the ability seemingly broke the rules, reaching the Paladin long after the fight was over.
Community Reactions: Laughs and Theories
The WoW community couldn’t resist having fun with the unusual bug. Fellow players flooded the Reddit post with humorous references, including a nod to Emperor Palpatine’s iconic Star Wars quote:
“The Void is a pathway to abilities some consider unnatural.”
Others likened Erudax to Randy from South Park:
“I didn’t hear no bell.”
While some fans speculated on the cause of this peculiar glitch, most were relieved to hear that EndTheEnd still managed to time their Mythic+ key. However, jokes circulated that Erudax might figure out a way to undo even that achievement.
Mythic+ Challenges: The Toughest WoW Content
Mythic+ dungeons are some of the most difficult activities in World of Warcraft, featuring escalating difficulty levels and rotating affixes designed to keep players on their toes. Grim Batol, one of the current dungeons in The War Within Season 1, demands tight coordination and precise execution, especially at higher key levels.
Despite the bug, Grim Batol remains a staple of the current Mythic+ rotation. Players will continue tackling it until Patch 11.1: Undermined launches, bringing new dungeons and challenges for The War Within Season 2.
Looking Ahead
While Erudax’s glitchy vengeance adds an unexpected layer of danger to Grim Batol, it’s unlikely to become a regular occurrence. With a few more months left in Season 1, players will hopefully avoid similar fates while working their way through high-level keys. And who knows? Perhaps Blizzard will address this otherworldly bug before Erudax claims more victims.
