Ex-Valve employee said why CS: GO cannot be transferred to a new engine

Richard Geldreich, a former Valve programmer, talked about why CS: GO developers should refrain from switching to Source 2. He urged users to be "careful with their desires", as if CS: GO switches to Source 2, many things can break which can take a long time to fix.

The point is that the code on which CS: GO is written is quite old, and then Valve, apparently, does not even consider the transition of the shooter discipline to a new engine due to many nuances. According to Richard Geldreich in CS: GO, the smallest rendering details may change and the shooter on Source 2 will feel and work in a completely different way, which is better to refrain from.

Dota 2, in turn, was ported to Source 2. Other Valve games work on the same engine, while CS: GO is still running on the previous Valve engine, Source.
