Valve has made the difficult decision to discontinue support for outdated operating systems and technologies in Counter-Strike 2, focusing on technical advancement. According to the new rules, CS2 will exclusively be available for 64-bit versions of Windows and Linux.

"We make this decision with a heavy heart to stop supporting obsolete technologies, including DirectX 9 and 32-bit operating systems. We will also no longer support macOS. These changes collectively affect less than one percent of active CS:GO players."

Players who purchased CS2 during the testing period (from March 22, 2023) up to the official release date (September 27, 2023) have the right to request refunds and compensation. This policy applies to users with outdated DirectX 9 versions, 32-bit Windows systems, and macOS users as well. Valve commits to processing refunds until December 1, 2023, taking into account the constraints that new technologies may impose on the game.
