During the current PUBG Mobile Global Championship Season 0, James Young, who plays the role of esports director, shared the developers' plans for the upcoming 2021 year. According to him, the prize pool of the PUBG Mobile championships should increase to $ 14,000,000.

In 2021, the season will be divided into several leagues, corresponding to the skills of the players: amateur leagues, semi-professional and professional. The competition now features a new championship, the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO), which will be divided into countries and regions. There will also be a larger PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL), which will include multiple regions in one competition. The season will end with the World Championship, which will be similar to what is taking place right now. Unlike in 2020, there will be no world leagues, and participants will enter the Global Championship directly through the PMPL.

These are not all innovations in the 2021 leagues. There are now more regional divisions in the PMPL. For example, the CIS, Western Europe, Arabia and Turkey used to play in the same division, but now the above regions will have their own leagues. North America, Latin America and Brazil were also split into three separate leagues. Previously, players from the above regions played in a single American division.

James Young also shared the results regarding competition views. According to him, in 2020, the PUBG Mobile championships were almost able to get to the 100,000,000 watch hour mark. This result is two times better than last year. The most watched PUBG Mobile event was, of course, the PUBG Mobile World League, which was watched by over 1,000,000 spectators simultaneously. In total, over 120,000 teams have registered for the PUBG Mobile World League across all divisions and stages.

The development of the esports scene in this way is in line with what PUBG Corp. sees. improving the position of PUBG Mobile in the western market. The developers want PUBG Mobile to be the world's first tier-1 esports discipline on mobile. Additionally, Young hinted at the construction of two studios for PUBG Mobile Esports. Their construction was originally supposed to be completed in 2021, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, plans may be significantly changed.
