Preparing for an Intel processor shortage?
According to the portal Wccftech, in the second quarter of this year, Intel desktop processors may disappear from the shelves. The main reason for the shortage may be the lack of substrates - one of the components of modern processors.
Sources Wccftech report that Intel has been reporting substrate shortages to key partners throughout the past week. As a result of this, the budget for the second quarter for Rocket Lake will be severely reduced. The distribution at the top of the stack, the Core i9, will be preferred first. In this regard, the Core i7 and Core i5 will be the most vulnerable.
It is likely that the excess demand over supply will affect the line of Intel Rocket Lake processors. In addition, the budget CPUs of the Core i7 and Core i5 families are expected to be in short supply. Nevertheless, a similar picture is observed with other market players - Sony, Microsoft and AMD.
The information suggests that Intel partners, including distributors and retailers, will have a decent starting stock of Intel Rocket Lake processors that could last for a month or more. However, in the future, the volume of supplies will decrease, which will lead to a shortage of processors on the market. The situation is expected to be similar to the current one with the PS5 and XBOX Series X/S market.
