Nintendo Nextgen is not needed

NPD Group, engaged in market analytics, shared some interesting statistics. It turns out the Nintendo Switch has become the second most popular console sold in the US in October.

Sales of portable consoles Switch and Switch Lite over the past month exceeded 735 thousand copies. This, in turn, is 136% more than the same indicator in 2019. The championship is still held by the Wii, which made a splash in 2008 and sold 807 thousand copies.

However, October was not the only success for Nintendo. Switch has been the best-selling console for 23 months now, with total US sales surpassing 22.5 million units. Perhaps the Xbox Series X/S or PS5 will be able to displace Nintendo from the leading position? We will find out the answer to this question in the coming months.
