Take-Two Interactive will buy Codemasters
Racing game developers will be part of Take-Two and join Rockstar Games and 2K Games. Take-Two is currently in talks to acquire a developer studio. Codemasters are known for their Dirt and F1 series. The deal will be £ 750,000,000 ($ 980,000,000).
According to the parties, the buyout of the studio will not mean a change of leadership at Codemasters. Frank Sagner will remain in the role of head of the studio, Rashid Varachia will handle the financial details, and most of the senior managers will also remain in their places. Together with the purchase, Take-Two took over the rights to all projects that were developed by Codemasters.
Although the parties have come to an agreement, the completion of the deal should take place early next year. The only obstacle in the way is the lack of approval from shareholders. The companies sent out meeting invitations where the agreement will be signed and the deal closed.
