According to the press release, the acquisition of QG Happy is part of Fosun Sports' global esports strategy and represents its acceleration in the esports industry. Fosun Sports has been expanding its eSports market in China since 2019, becoming part of Wolves Esports, which consists of teams in FIFA Online 4, Call of Duty and Identity V.

In addition, last month, Fosun Esports announced its investment in the North American esports organization Evil Geniuses, which officially marks the company's entry into the North American market.

Based in China, Fosun Sports is the parent company of Wolves Esports. The move means the Chinese conglomerate will expand its esports footprint by entering the KPL, the largest tournament for the mobile discipline, Arena of Valor.

Founded in 2017, QG Happy has won three KPL Champions Cups and also won the Honor of Kings World Champions Cups in 2021.

As a reminder, Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club entered the esports industry in 2018. Since then, the esports division of Wolves Esports has created rosters for disciplines such as FIFA and Rocket League, as well as car simulators. In addition, the organization has partnerships with Fortnite and other popular esports projects.
