Seven. One Receives Exclusive Broadcast Rights to Call of Duty League
Activision Blizzard Esports has granted Seven. One Sports, the sports business unit of the Seven. One Entertainment Group, exclusive rights to linear television broadcasts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for selected German-language Call of Duty League tournaments.
Beginning in May 2021, selected major Call of Duty League finals, playoffs and championship games will be streamed on ProSeiben MAXX and esports.com, the latter of which will receive expanded digital rights. The duration of this "long-term" agreement, as well as financial terms, were not disclosed.
The first broadcast is scheduled for May 16, when German-speaking viewers will be able to watch the Call of Duty League Stage 3 Major Grand Finals live on ProSieben MAXX. In addition, the eSports news portal esports.com will provide full coverage of the tournament.
Stéphane Zant, Managing Director of Seven. One Sports, commented on the agreement in a press release:"Our agreement with Activision Blizzard Esports is a prelude to a far-reaching new partnership that we intend to expand beyond mere League coverage."
After spending most of the first season online, the Call of Duty League will host its first LAN event on June 17th. All 12 teams in the Call of Duty League franchise will compete during Major Stage 4 at Arlington esports stadium. However, fans will still be unable to enter the stadium.
