aXiomatic Gaming appoints Mark Vela as CEO

aXiomatic Gaming, the parent company of esports organization Team Liquid, has appointed its Chief Strategic Officer (CSO) Mark Velu as the company's new CEO effective April 30.

According to the press release, Vela played a key role in several aXiomatic investments during his tenure as Vice President of Strategy and CSO. These include investments in Pokémon Go developer Niantic and blockchain technology company Dapper Labs.

Vela's upcoming appointment as CEO comes shortly after he took over in December 2020. In line with her new role, Vela will be responsible for managing investments, providing strategic support and overseeing the company's entire portfolio, which includes Epic Games and Team Liquid, among others.

Prior to joining aXiomatic Gaming in 2018, Vela spent over four years at Activision as Director of Product Management, Strategic Planning and Operations. In addition, he also worked at Google for two years.
