The Esports Observer portal has shared statistics on the number of prize money awarded in the first half of 2021. According to the results of calculations, CS: GO became the leader among esports disciplines, where a total of $ 7.98 million was played.

The second place in the ranking was taken by PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, where the organizers of the tournaments spent a little less - $ 7.80 million. Interestingly, the PUBG Mobile championships stopped at the fourth line, having played a total of $ 5.97 million. We must not forget about Fortnite. At the end of the first half of the year, the discipline brought cybersportsmen a total of $ 6.12 million. The top five was closed by another Valve development - Dota 2 - where $ 5.42 million was played.

The TOP-10 also includes the following disciplines: Rainbow Six Siege ($ 3.63 million), Arena of Valor ($ 3.33 million), Rocket League ($ 3.01 million), Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ($ 2.78 million) and VALORANT ($ 2.75 million).

While most esports are on the list, the lack of both League of Legends and Overwatch is worrying. Both games consistently make it to the top 10 at the end of the year, but that's because they put the vast majority of their prize money into their World Championships. Franchise systems for both games have reduced the total number of international tournaments available in each discipline.

The situation is expected to change towards the end of the year. For example, Dota 2 is preparing for The International, while the VALORANT discipline will host iconic championships that conclude the first esports season in the elite.
