Overwatch 2 has made a noticeable update to its Play menu, enlarging the button for Hero Mastery while diminishing the presence of the Missions button. This minor change signals a potential shift in focus within the game, hinting that new PvE missions may not be on the immediate horizon.

In a significant mid-season update for Season 9, Overwatch 2 rolled out a comprehensive patch that enhanced the abilities of almost half of its character lineup and introduced a novel game mode named Hero Mastery: Gauntlet. This mode, a cooperative PvE challenge, pits players against hordes of AI-controlled opponents. Despite the excitement around this addition, the rearrangement in the Play menu, demoting Missions in favor of Hero Mastery, raises concerns about the future priority of Story Missions in Overwatch 2.

The swap in placement between OW2 Missions and Hero Mastery Cards in the game's interface comes amid uncertainties regarding the co-op story mode, initially a major draw for the game.
