Halo Infinite Introduces Major Grenade-Jumping Buff in Latest Update
343 Industries has confirmed a significant change to grenades in Halo Infinite, turning the game into a grenade-jumper's paradise. Previously, grenade-jumping was possible in Halo Infinite, but it wasn't as effective as in earlier entries in the series.
The launch of Halo Infinite in 2021 was nothing short of a fiasco, leaving many wondering what had been planned for release a year earlier before it was eventually delayed. However, in the years since, 343 Industries has done an excellent job of updating the game with consistent new content, bringing it up to the standard expected of a Halo game. Recently, Halo Infinite revealed significant Forge update plans, confirming that the game's powerful map-making tools are set to improve further. With ongoing support for the game, it's a great time to be a fan.
In a post on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries confirmed that grenades would receive a tuning buff on July 30, with the launch of Operation: Fleetcom for Halo Infinite. According to the post, "The impulse for Fragmentation, Plasma, and Spike grenade physics has been increased and tuned to give you increased jump height and provide more opportunities to hit those coveted grenade jumps." This is a substantial buff to grenade jumps, which long-time fans of the Halo series will greatly appreciate. A video posted on YouTube by 343 Industries shows the before-and-after differences that the new update will make.
While it may seem like a minor addition, the Halo sandbox is one of the most iconic parts of the franchise, so the lack of powerful grenade jumps was noticeable during gameplay. Ultimately, it raises the skill ceiling of the game, giving those brave enough to try a grenade jump an edge. Importantly, it's another example of 343 Industries listening to player feedback and acting on it, which is why Halo Infinite is now arguably one of the best Halo games. It will be interesting to see how the newly-buffed grenade jumps impact gameplay on existing maps in Halo Infinite, as it could cause a minor shift in the meta for some.
Although 343 Industries continues to update Halo Infinite, some gamers are already looking ahead to what's next for the franchise. While the developer remains tight-lipped about any potential sequels, it was recently revealed that Halo 7 has a new lead designer, with Dan Gniady taking on the role. It isn't clear how far along this title is, but hopefully, Halo Infinite still has plenty of life left in it.
