Square Enix, Sony and Tencent Invest in Cloud
Cloud company Ubitus has received investments from Square Enix, Sony and Tencent, according to a press release.
Representatives of Ubitus did not name the exact amount of investments. They only noted that the funds contributed by partners "confirm their confidence in the company's technology and its potential in the market." According to Bloomberg sources, this is an investment of $ 45 million.
Commenting on the investment, Bloomberg stressed that Tencent is following other companies in increasing its spending on cloud technologies that allow them to run games without expensive PCs or consoles.
Ubitus was founded in 2007 in Taiwan. The company now has offices in China, Japan and Korea. Ubitus actively partners with video game developers and publishers such as Capcom, Ubisoft and 505 Games. She is best known for the cloud versions of Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil VII for Nintendo Switch.
